what is a Toggle Latch?
Toggle Latch, also known as a "T" lock or "toggle bolt", is a common fastener consisting of a "T" handle, a retractable rod (toggle mechanism), and a fixed pin. When the handle is pressed, the rod will retract into the lock body, at which time it can be fixed in the hole; after releasing the handle, the rod will expand to form two arms, like the horizontal bar of the letter "T", firmly stuck on both sides of the fixing hole, thereby achieving the locking function. Toggle Latch is widely used in furniture, cabinets, chassis, toolboxes, and other occasions that require quick fixing and unlocking. It is favored for its simplicity, reliability, and easy operation.
Product Composition
Handle: Usually a "T" or similar design, used to manually operate the lock to lock and unlock.
Latch Body: This is the fixed part of the lock, usually installed on the object that needs to be locked, such as a door, lid, or furniture.
Telescopic rod (Toggle Arm): A rod connected to the handle that can be extended and retracted. When the handle is pressed, the telescopic rod retracts into the lock body; when the handle is released, the telescopic rod expands to form a locking mechanism.
Retainer or Spring: A component used to keep the telescopic rod in the retracted state in the lock body. When the handle is pressed, the retainer or spring allows the telescopic rod to slide and remain retracted.
Mounting Holes: Holes on the lock body are used to fix the lock in place with screws or other fasteners.
End Cap: Sometimes there are end caps at both ends of the telescopic rod to prevent the telescopic rod from being damaged during use.
Locking Mechanism: Some Toggle Latch may include a locking mechanism to prevent unauthorized unlocking.
Coating or Finish: The exterior of the lock may be coated with a protective layer, such as electroplating or painting, to improve corrosion resistance and aesthetics.
Product Features
Easy operation
Toggle Latch usually only requires a simple press and release action to lock and unlock, and the operation is intuitive and easy to perform.
Small space occupation
Due to its compact design, the Toggle Latch does not require a corresponding lock or hole on the other side of the locked object, so it is very useful in space-constrained applications.
High holding force
Once locked, the two arms formed by the expansion of the telescopic rod can be firmly stuck on both sides of the fixing hole, providing strong holding force and stability.
Wide applicability
Toggle Latch is suitable for a variety of materials and application scenarios, including wood, plastic, metal, etc., and is often used for quick fixing and unlocking of furniture, cabinets, tool boxes, mechanical equipment, etc.
Product safety assurance
Vibration resistance: Toggle Latch is designed to withstand vibration and other stresses, ensuring safe and secure fastening even in high-vibration environments.
Locking mechanism: Some Toggle Latch come with a locking feature, providing an extra layer of security and protection against accidental or intentional opening.
Material strength: High-strength and durable materials such as stainless steel or metal are often used to ensure durability for long-term use.
