Custom Lock Development and Manufacturing

OEM and ODM Lock Support Built Around Your Application

We help overseas buyers, distributors and equipment manufacturers evaluate, modify or develop mechanical locks and access hardware for industrial cabinets, vehicles, toolboxes, machinery and related enclosures. Our work starts with the installation and performance requirement-not with an unsupported promise. Send your drawing, sample or application brief so our team can assess the product route, manufacturing feasibility and information still needed for quotation.

Who We Support

Different buyers need different evidence. We organize each project around your commercial role, technical responsibility and approval process so the discussion moves from a general request to a manufacturable specification.

Importers and Wholesalers

Product-family selection, finish and keying options, packaging requirements, sample confirmation and repeat-order consistency for a defined market.

OEM Equipment Manufacturers

Installation-envelope review, cutout and mounting compatibility, mechanism selection, interface drawings and sample validation on the customer's assembly.

Brands and ODM Customers

Feasibility review for differentiated appearance, structure, branding or packaging, followed by agreed sample, tooling and approval stages.

What Can Be Evaluated for Customization

Customization does not always require a completely new lock. Depending on the application and order conditions, a proven model with controlled changes may be more practical than new tooling. Final availability must be confirmed after technical review.

Fit and Geometry

Cutout, mounting pattern, panel thickness, grip range, cam or latch travel, handle orientation and rear clearance.

Mechanism

Keyed or non-locking operation, compression, slam-to-close, rotary, rod-control, single-point or multi-point arrangements.

Material and Finish

Material and surface-finish options can be reviewed against the environment, appearance, process and project volume.

Brand and Supply

Logo, marking, packaging, keying arrangement and spare-part needs can be discussed where technically and commercially feasible.

Our OEM and ODM Project Workflow

Requirement Review

We review the application, drawing, sample, target quantity, environment and approval criteria.

Product Route

We compare an existing model, controlled modification or new development route and identify open technical questions.

Drawing Alignment

Interfaces such as cutout, mounting, grip, cam, striker or linkage are clarified before a sample route is confirmed.

Quotation and Plan

Applicable product, sample, tooling and commercial items are quoted according to the agreed project scope.

Sample or Prototype

A sample path is arranged where required so fit, operation and appearance can be reviewed on the intended assembly.

Customer Validation

The customer checks the sample against its equipment, test plan, market and regulatory requirements.

Production Approval

Drawings, specifications, finish, packaging and approved sample status are finalized before mass production.

Production and Packing

Manufacturing, inspection, assembly and packing follow the confirmed order and approved project documentation.

How Trust Is Built During the Project

Buyer concern Our working method Recommended customer evidence
Will the lock fit? We clarify cutout, panel thickness, grip, mounting, cam/striker position and clearance. Dimensioned door section, STEP/PDF drawing or physical sample.
Will it work in the application? We match the mechanism to access frequency, operating direction, closure and environment. Use case, duty cycle, forces, environment and required test method.
What exactly is approved? Production should follow confirmed drawings, specifications, finish and an approved sample where applicable. Written approval and controlled revision reference.
Can the factory produce it consistently? Our site lists integrated processes from development and tooling through inspection, assembly and packing. Agreed inspection points, critical dimensions and acceptance criteria.
Can timing and cost be trusted? MOQ, tooling, sample timing and production timing are confirmed after scope review rather than stated as universal figures. Forecast quantity, target date, destination and packaging requirements.

Send These Details First

  • Company, market and intended application
  • Existing model, drawing, sample or reference photos
  • Cutout, panel thickness, grip, mounting and clearance
  • Operating method, keying and security requirement
  • Material, finish and environmental conditions
  • Required validation or compliance standard
  • Estimated quantity, target date and destination

Useful Approval Documents

  • Dimensioned product or interface drawing
  • Confirmed specification and revision number
  • Approved color or finish reference
  • Keying or operating configuration list
  • Packaging and marking instructions
  • Customer test and acceptance criteria
  • Approved sample record where required
Project-specific confirmation protects both parties. Materials, finishes, ratings, certificates, MOQ, tooling ownership, sample cost, development time and production lead time vary by design and order conditions. They should be written into the quotation or project agreement after review. If confidentiality is required, request a project-specific confidentiality arrangement before sharing sensitive files.

Start from an Existing Product Family

Many projects can begin by reviewing our existing cylinder locks, handle locks, flush panel latches, rod-control locks, cabinet latches, rotary and pull latches, toggle latches and hinges. Starting from a proven mechanism can reduce unnecessary development risk when only the interface, operation, finish or packaging needs adjustment.

Tell Us What the Lock Must Do

Send your application, drawing or sample details and indicate which points are fixed and which can change. We will use that information to discuss a suitable existing, modified or new-development route.

OEM and ODM FAQ

What is the difference between OEM and ODM support?
OEM support usually starts from a customer-defined product, drawing or specification. ODM support may involve more joint evaluation of the product concept, structure or available platform. The actual responsibility and deliverables should be defined for each project.
Can Mingyi modify an existing lock instead of opening a new mold?
Possibly. Changes to the cam, grip, keying, finish, linkage, marking or packaging may be considered depending on the model and quantity. Feasibility must be reviewed against the existing design and manufacturing process.
What files should we provide for a new lock project?
Provide a dimensioned PDF or 3D model if available, plus the installation space, mating parts, operating method, material and finish expectations, environment, quantity and validation requirements. A physical sample can also help with replacement projects.
How are MOQ and lead time determined?
They depend on whether the project uses an existing product, modification or new tooling, as well as material, finish, testing, packaging and order volume. They should be confirmed in the project quotation after technical review.
Who validates the customized lock in the final equipment?
Mingyi can review and manufacture against the agreed product requirements, while the customer should validate fit, function, safety and regulatory suitability in the complete final equipment and intended operating environment.
